Hi my name is Marcus and I am a Digital & Technology Fast Streamer in the UK Civil Service. The Civil Service Fast Stream is a talent management programme for graduates who have the potential to become leaders of the civil service. Through this accelerated route to management roles I complete 6 month placements in a number of different government departments. Thus far I have undertaken roles within the Department for International Development (DFID), Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
My latest adventure has led me to TeachPitch in the trendy hipster tech-hub that is Shoreditch. I am currently enjoying a 6-month secondment in order to experience the wonderful cuisine the area has to offer such as halloumi falafel wraps and fried chicken! Aside from that I also wish to gain a wider breadth of experience and to work in an environment outside of government.
I remember the first time I was introduced to the concept of TeachPitch by the charismatic Aldo De Pape and being immediately intrigued. The classroom setup has remained unchanged for decades and seeing how TeachPitch aimed to redefine how educators can engage their students excited me greatly.
My role as Digital Delivery Manager has seen me scrutinising the product portfolio to identify improvements and introduce new functionality to improve the user experience. So far it has been great fun working in such a fast-paced and positive environment surrounded by passionate people. EdTech is a very inspiring and innovative industry that is experiencing exponential growth. My biggest achievement to date within TeachPitch was restructuring our processes. This means we are now able to work faster, more efficiently and more collaboratively to improve the same platform you use today. The team here in EdSpace are full to the brim with novel ideas to improve our product and in time I am excited to see TeachPitch evolve into the most robust easy-to-use product in the marketplace. Beyond my stint at TeachPitch my future plans are to take my knowledge of EdTech and get involved with International Development projects to help educate children in deprived areas.
